What is VoIP?
Voice over Internet Protocol
VoIP is an acronym that simply
stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. VoIP uses the internet
or other packet switched networks to deliver voice
communications from one point to another. VoIP interfaces with
public telephone networks to make worldwide voice
communications seamless. Depending on the service, VoIP users
can interface with other VoIP users, landlines or mobile
phones.
How does VoIP work?
We will keep it as simple as possible without getting into
too much technical discussion.

VoIP works by taking the words you speak into your telephone,
using speech codecs (compression/decompression) to bundle the
audio into very small units, bundles those units into larger
units called packets, arranges those packets in the appropriate
order and transmits them over an IP network. These are
decompressed at the other end in the correct sequence so the
listener hears what you said in a seamless fashion.
